Serving as your State Superintendent since 2005, I have traveled throughout North Carolina listening to educators, students, parents, and citizens about their hopes and dreams for public education. I know from these conversations and other types of measures that our public education system is moving in the right direction.

Yet, there is much more work to be done, and I ask that you re-elect me as your State Superintendent. We must keep the momentum going. I will continue to make a priority that all students graduate from high school prepared for work, further education, and citizenship. I will persist in working with all partners – the State Board of Education, educators, elected officials, professional organizations, and parents to ensure our students are well prepared. North Carolina can be #1 in education.
